POSTAL
CARD. Cincinnati Official Facsimile.
This rare reply card (LHalf UY 14m Variety), with Covington, KY machine
cancel is from the Dr. C. Reynold's collection. Dr. Reynold as a high level
(?County) Health Officer received these reply cards from physicians reporting
monthly infectious diseases. The purchaser of Dr. R's correspondence, which
was considered intact, discovered 6 of these varieties among the 12,000
+ postal cards in his files. These have found their way into the
auction & dealer market. The first brought $1100.00. For
the postal card historian/philatelist this is a fine opportunity to procure
an example of this scarce card. (If buyer fails to get a good certificate,
his/her money will be refunded for up to one year from date of purchase.

ADVERTISING
COLUMBIA STAMP & COIN CO. A graphically exciting
all-over cover with mixed franking carried this registered airmail cover
from Portland, Oregon to Chicago . Sender took unusual care to use good
specimens & convinced the post office clerk to precisely cancel &
apply auxiliary post marks, etc. Recipient managed to release the flap
w/o disturbing the original envelop. Superb in every respect, will
satisfy even the most fastidious collector.
SPECIAL
DELIVERY COVER. A neat Lawrence, MA flag cancel ties VF
Scott E7 to this advertising cover sent to Providence, RI on April
20, 1909. The earliest known use was Dec. 14, 1908. A pretty cover with
a most interesting corner card, it will make a fine addition to the
postal historian's collection.

COVER, JAPANESE TOURIST BUREAU. A scarce cover (probably
used as a mailing label for a packet of Printed Matter) shows a great
map depicting the sea routes from Yokohama to SF, Seattle, Vancouver,etc.
Sent from Panama Exposition Grounds to Phila., it is franked with
appropriate stamps commemorating the great event of 1915. A few light water
stains affecting the boxed aux. mark & part of cover, but not
the stamps, are all that prevents this from being a VF cover.

COVER, R.F. Albright. A very well centered 10 cent Columbian
stamp paid the registration rate for this most interesting Nassau
St. stamp dealer's cover to Manitowoc, Wisc. in 1936. Stamp dealers often
selected fine specimens to frank covers to their best customers,
this is a prime example. The illustrated corner card, the stamp, auxiliary
marking & the condition will delight the postal historian.

LETTER, 1842.
"FOWARDED" in red, 37x6 mm rectangle (NY) - this folded letter cost the
addressee 37 1/2 cents...18 3/4 for each segment rated 150 - 400 miles.
LATEST RECORDED USE...NYS. Ex: Joseph Von Hake, described in 1978 by a
prominent philatelist as "a nice exhibit piece with the green, red, magenta
and blue all together" on the face of this exciting specimen of postal
history. For the serious collector and exhibitor of rate covers.
STAMPLESS
FOLDED LETTER, 1837,
in the form of a Bill of Lading on board the Ship Nashville, Jackson, Master,
"Now lying in the port of NY and bound for New Orleans, Ten Bales being
marked, etc.." Addressed to the prominent textile manufacturer, R.G.
Hazard of South Kingston, RI. The four joined B/Ls each have
magnificent engraved sailing ships creating an unusual document for the
specialist. The postal historian will appreciate the NY cancel & the
manuscript 18 1/2 rate paid for a single sheet from NY to RI.
COLUMBIAN
WORLD'S FAIR CANCELLATION. A pretty cover mailed from the
WF Station in Chicago which was hosting this historic event.
The circle date machine cancel of Oct.10, 1893 is a scarce & much sought-after
marking by postal historians, & not often found on this
desirable size 6 1/2 x 3 5/8 "cover.

STATIONERY, U219, mint entire. This clean, crisp, unused
envelope issued in 1876, is not often found in this collectible condition.
It is also the most favorable size, 5 1/2 x 3 1/4, ideal for the album
or exhibit page.

BISECTS #230 COVER. From the Pennypacker find, this scarce,
unauthorized use of the 1 cent Columbians continues to be exciting to the
collector of unusual postal history. Very few from this limited source
are available in the marketplace.
ROOSEVELT
ADVERTISING COVER. FDR was a well-known philatelist
who brought many Americans into the stamp collecting hobby during the Depression.
Many clubs, including the venerable American Philatelic Society supported
his presidency. This most attractive all-over cover & enclosure alluding
to President's Day & politics is a great combination.
ADVERTISING
COVER, SHOE MFG. Colorful graphics promoting the Emerson
Shoe & the reverse list of the names and addresses of 33 stores
selling this fine exclusively for men shoe, place this fine unused envelope
in a special category.

FLIGHT COVER. Commemorating the 157th anniversary of the founding
of the U.S. Postal Service . Few cards of this event survive this 1932 historical
flight. Major James H. Doolittle, Mgr. Aviation Dept., Shell Petroleum
Corp., flew
the George Washington Bicentennial Airplane, from "Dawn to Dusk"
over routes traveled by Geo. Washington, dropping mail at many historical
places. The reverse of this card is the aerophilatelist delight.
A rare opportunity to procure one of few remaining flights of interest.

CARNIVAL COVER. A neat scarce Cord Cup National
Air Derby specimen of the races held in Washington, DC August 20&
21st, 1932. A pretty cachet by the Merchants & Manufacturers Association.
For the aerophilatelist seeking the unusual.

POST CARD, RUSSO-JAPAN PEACE COMMISSION. This scarce unused
card depicts the General Stores Bldg. at Portsmouth, NH Navy Yard with
oval images of the Peace Envoys & President Teddy Roosevelt. Clean
and rare reminder of this historic event.
FANCY
CANCEL, POST OFFICE DEPT. A lovely 60mmx20mm double sl hs in
fancy ribbon frame on small type legal size cover with Wash., D.C. Free
cds. John Oakford Free Frank Dec. 6, 1853. Enclosure from 1st Asst.
Post Master General gives detailed explanation of the rules for circular rate
postage to a man who has sent in a sample that was charged (properly) letter
rate. FVF. This unique letter signed by S.R. Robbie Ass't. PMG
should interest the serious student of postal history. SURVEYOR
ADVERTISING COVER. Fine engraved illustrations of eqipment
with expanded graphics on the letterhead in blue make this most desireable.
Paying the foreign rate of 5 cents to Liverpool, England in 1907 will provide
the postal historian with reason to exhibit this pair. READING
STAND ADVERTISING COVER. Multiple illustrations &
interesting printed copy contribute to the excitement of this
turn-of-the-century cover sent circular rate by the Holloway Co. of Cuyahoga
Falls, Ohio to Oak Lane Penna. Carefully opened on left edge, this 7 1/2 x
5 1/4 in envelope is ideal for the album or exhibit frame. HARDEN
EXPRESS DOCUMENT. An exciting partially printed receipt used
during the Civil War, Oct.14th, 1863, to transport a package from NY to
Philadelphia. Matted & ready to frame, this item of express company
materials & postal history is a fine specimen to exhibit. WENDELL WILKIE CAMPAIGN CARD. An
extremely scarce U.S. postal card with great all-over graphics & political
slogans sent out to encourage voting for Wilkie who was trying to unseat
FDR. A bold Smith's Ferry, PA cds of Oct. 22, 1940, with all the fervor of
a presidential election, carried the card to Phila. For the postal
historian or serious student of political elections, this is a
gem. U.S. cover franked with Scott#14. Fine cover from
Baltimore to San Francisco. An exciting cover to great destination.
Stampless Folded Letter.
Regarding delivery of Pitt Bull Terrier “Beaver” procured from a
British (deserter) soldier from Canada into Maine. A complete letter written
without use of a punctuation mark. A delightful message emphasizing both the
noble & fearsome attributes of the Bull Terrier. In full
THOMAS A. EDISON.
First Day of Issue stamp honoring the 50th anniversary of his
incandescent lamp. A very scarce post card example franked with the appropriate
stamp and first day cancellation. Tiny ¼ closed tear repaired with archival tape
on verso.
CAMPING ADVERTISING COVER.
Multiple contents make this 100 yr. old, uncommon ad cover a specialist’s
delight. Collectors sports equipment ephemera, should find this a great addition
to album or exhibit frame. Included is an 8-page mini-booklet with red ribbon
tie; a full page ad with early air-mattresses; an unusual Sportsman's Yoke for
holding a rifle, oar or canoe also serving as a swimming collar designed to hold
up a 200 lb. Man contribute to the excitement INSURANCE POLICY. A rarely seen policy with coupons
from 2-7 days of accident insurance dated July 10, 1899, with two
documentary stamps. A rare item for the revenue or document collector.
MASONIC
FIRST DAY COVER.
The Grand Lodge of the Masonic Stamp Club of NY created this exciting cover
which became Planty#778-6 and much sought-after by FDC collectors. Ready for the
album or exhibit frame. PLYMOUTH, MASS. ADVERTISING. A magnificently illustrated all-over cover
of this most historic town. Depicted are the following: Ship Mayflower, Plymouth
Rock, Pilgrim Hall, strolling John Alden & Pricilla, Clark’s Island scene of the
first Sabbath, and the entire verso covered with the many attributes of Plymouth
proper.
