Map of an Exploring Expedition
to the Rocky Mountains in the year 1842 and to Oregon & North California
in the years 1843-44 by Brevet Capt. J.C. Fremont of the Corps of Topographical
Engineers under the orders of Col. J.J. Abert, Chief of the Topographical
Bureau.
The map is approx. 51 x 30 inches;
lakes and some rivers are hand colored in blue. Many Indian territories
are shown. Since this map was folded into a report pocket for members
of Congress, the many folds required archival reinforcement. It is definitely ready for framing, making
studying and viewing an exciting experience.

Since the map was
tightly folded and placed within the pages the very light separations were
professionally repaired and the map reposes between 2 layers of mylar for ease of
handling & protection. Ready for framing or study.
Also included are
2 small bound folded maps: Bear River Emigrant Road to Lower Columbian
& Rio Sacramento-Nueva Helvitia.
The book also has 15 engraved full page images: Fort Laramie, Chimney
Rock, Hot Spring Gate, Devil's Gate, Central Chain of the Wind River Mountains,
View of Wind River Mts, View of Pike's Peak, Pass, Pass of the Standing Rock,
The Great Salt Lake, The American Falls of Lewis Fork, Outlet of Subterranean

botanicals & fossils. For the most part, the pages are only minimally
foxed. Pages are tight & front cover has less than 3 inches of
separation.
